The BRAC SYSTEM

The SOLUTION to WATER SHORTAGES
Brac Systems - Awarded Best New Product
at Mecanex Climatex 2007 (Canada)
Named a Top Ten Green Building Product for 2007 by Sustainable Industries Journal (USA)
An in-home grey water recycling system, the Brac system was developed to reduce domestic water use by using bath and shower water to flush toilets. This process results in water savings of one third for the average home.

Drinking water is not an unlimited resource. Although more than 70% of the surface of our planet consists of water, 97% of this is salt water. About 2% is glacial ice, and only 1% is fresh water.
Water Authorities are already feeling the pressure. Some areas have already implemented water use restrictions.  According to a recent study, 19 out of 20 scientists agreed that a serious drought is imminent for the U.S. southwest  in the coming 30 years.

With a strong population growth in the Southwest, it is time to be pro-active and to seek out new methods to start conserving rather than wasting our precious water.  By using the Brac System you simply reuse your bath and shower water to flush the toilets. This will result in the reduction of  water use by about one third. National statistics show that about 35% of total water use goes to bath and shower while about 30% is used to flush toilets.

The Brac System is relatively inexpensive and easy to install. Savings on your water bill will allow for creative financing to ensure payback within several years. In addition “green homes” are known to retain a higher value when it comes time to re-sell.

The US rates as the biggest consumer of water, oil & gas.  As a nation we urgently need to reduce our dependency on these natural resources. For drinking water we have no substitute. The only alternative would be desalinated seawater at a cost that that would be prohibitive. Apart from possible water rationing, the cost of water will steadily increase over time as will the municipal charge for sewage.

Less water use will allow for a natural population growth without over-burdening the supply line. Ultimately this approach towards conservation will ensure a steady water supply for our children and their offspring.

Today Brac Systems offers a real solution that gives us hope for the future. We are proud to share this system with the world.

The Brac System offers a clear solution

Just imagine that approximately one third of the water you have paid for is simply flushed down the toilet. If the opportunity arose, wouldn’t it be a good idea to do something about that?

So how does this Brac system work?

The system consists of patented, state-of-the-art components that filter the bath & shower water through a 200-micron filter bag, after which the greywater is subjected to a timed chlorination system eliminating 99% of all bacteria. The water is then jetted up to the individual toilet tanks for flushing. This system of recycled greywater is contained in a separate circuit and is prevented from mixing with your drinking-water supply.
Using this greywater is like using potable water, without having to pay for it again while at the same time making a serious contribution to the environment. Once the Brac System has been integrated into your existing plumbing, the system operates seamlessly. The only difference you will notice is your reduced water bill.

The diagram below shows the working of the Brac System. A pressure tank within the Brac Tank insures adequate water pressure to supply all of the toilets in the home. Excess water is automatically discharged into the sewer.
Brac Systems, a water saving solution
According to the World Water Council (WWC) the Daily per capita use of water in residential areas in the US and Canada is 92 Gallons. On an annual basis for a typical family of four this would amount to 134,320 Gallons. This is almost double the average use throughout Europe.

Depending on the geographical location, use could be considerably higher depending on local temperatures and annual rainfall. The Southwestern United States is one such area with higher than average temperatures and lower than average rainfall resulting in considerably higher than average water use.

At these rates, the water supplies will not be able to support our growing needs and expanding
population. Alarming as this may be, there is something we can do to change this. We have a moral obligation and a real opportunity to do our part for the environment. And we will be saving money
in the process.

Brac Systems, a money saving solution
As is plainly reflected in the following pie chart, the breakdown is limited to water use within the home only. With bath and shower use amounting to about 35% and toilet use amounting to about 30%, the one clearly cancels out the other, resulting in water savings of 30% and up
One Brac greywater recycling system installed in the home supplying water to the individual toilet tank can save up to 44,750 US gallons of fresh water per year for a single household. Just imagine the water bill savings on your area.

The term greywater is used for any wastewater that does not include fecal or food preparation waste (black-water). Although not suited for drinking purposes, greywater after proper filtration and chlorination has the appearance of clear water. This diagram also shows the ability to include laundry water. Depending on the ratio of toilet flushing versus shower use, it could be useful to include this source as well.

Allow your water bill savings to pay for your Brac System today, and start on your way to conserve water and secure real savings well into the future.
