As a water systems integrator, PACE offers grey water recycling solution for both domestic and commercial applications. Using all greywater sources such as bath, shower and laundry water to recycle for use in irrigation and toilet flushing. Savings in water use of the magnitude of 30%-60% have been realized.
Water is a valuable resource that shouldn't be wasted. Just 1% of the entire water supply in the world is available for human use - the rest is either salty seawater or locked in ice caps and glaciers. This relatively small 1% supplies the world's agricultural, manufacturing, community and personal household/sanitation needs operating. We actually drink very little, or about 1% of all our processed "drinking water". The remainder goes on lawns, in washing machines, and down toilets and drains!
Of course caring for our environment is not a new concept, but concern for our rapidly dwindling fresh water supplies has only recently been making headlines.
The 3 fundamental elements needed for our survival are: air, water and food. We cannot survive without breathable air for more than a few minutes. We can only go without water for about seven days and without food for only a couple of weeks.
Here in the United States cities, towns, communities and states are already fighting over fresh water. Given our steady growth in population just imagine what the near future holds. Water rationing is already taking place in certain regions and at certain intervals. This is putting much needed pressure on federal, state and local water treatment and pollution control plants to improve their processes and facilities, which in turn will only increase the cost of water to the consumer.
In the face of rising shortages, water costs and sewer services costs, conservation is not only necessary but will save us money at the same time. We pay for every drop, whether it's used wisely or wasted! So by implementing a simple conservation program, we support the environment by easing the burden on water storage, purification, distribution and treatment infrastructures.
The concept of the PACE system
Pace emphasizes the need for optimum results in dealing with water treatment.
The process differs between residential to commercial applications.
Commercial system are designed for projects such as hotels, hospitals, condominium complexes, senior living communities, student housing, correctional facilities and commercial laundry operations.
Water savings of up to 60% are possible where either irrigation, toilet flushing or a combination of both are required. With commercial washers the rinse cycle is typically used to feed the wash cycle after recycling.
When planning a new housing project of the type indicated above, the total required annual water supply for that particular development will determine the total application and hook-up fees for both water supply and sewer discharge. These costs increase exponentially with demand. Considering the reduction in annual water use as a result of recycling the greywater, the savings in charges and fees will go a long way in paying for the recycling equipment. This does not take into consideration the cost savings in annual water use.
Annual price hikes in water cost are inevitable. With population growth continuing and water supplies under pressure due to a decade of drought the only foreseeable solution would be the adoption of nuclear fueled desalination plants. This would solve the water supply problems but would have a spiraling effect in the cost of water.
The PACE systems are tailor made and come complete with a source greywater sump transfer pump, a greywater feed reservoir tank, an ultra filtration membrane system, UV disinfection modules, an in ground holding tank(s) and a duplex booster pump station.
Advantages
· Commercial systems are designed and dedicated for a specific project depending on its demands provided
there are greywater sources available
· Rain water harvesting can be incorporated in any system
· Ultra Filtration Membrane Systems is used to remove bacteria & viruses and resulting turbidity of the water
is <0.1-NTU. Less then is required for drinking water
· Removal of Total Suspended Solids >0.1 Micron
· Designs are automated for continuous operation

The disinfection process is conducted without the use of dangerous or expensive chemicals. Greywater passes along a UV lighting module with a transmittance of greater than 90%. The method allows for this
UV tube to effectively disinfect or kill bacteria, viruses and protozoan cysts. The tubes have a lifespan of
one year of continuous operation.
A centrifugal polyester screened filter is used creating a centrifugal motion as the water enters, spinning heavier particulates toward the outside wall where it collects at the purge outlet while smaller and lighter particulate is trapped by the fine mesh polyester screen filter as the greywater passes through toward the discharge outlet. Visual inspection of the filter body will show when the system needs to be purged. To purge the system simply turn the ball valve at the bottom of the filter body while the system is under pressure. This will ensure the backwash. The standard screen polyester filter is 140 mesh (104 micron).
To avoid having to manually check the filter for backwash, PACE offers the optional Power Purge Package, a motorized valve system that automatically initiates a complete backwash at pre-set intervals.
